D5B LGP TractorsThe sprocket hub bearings on Low Ground Pressure (LGP) D5 and D5B Tractors should be adjusted more often than for tractors with either standard or narrow gauge track. The sprocket shaft tends to deflect more on LGP tractors, which reduces the preload on the hub bearings at a faster rate than on other tractors.
Therefore, the new recommendation is to adjust the bearings every 500 hours. Add a NOTE to the following Operation and Maintenance Guides to refer to this Service Magazine article for LGP tractors only: SEBU5940, Page 166 and GEG00665, Page 23.
Adjusting the bearings every 500 hours will increase the life of the bearings and Duo-Cone seals.
