Introduction
This Special Instruction provides the information needed for installation of the 6Y3244 Heater Group on the D6H Series II Tractors given above.Do not perform any procedure, outlined in this publication, or order any parts until you read and understand the information contained within.Reference: Service Manual, Parts Manual, and Operation and Maintenance Manual.Necessary Parts
Installation
Assembly of Heater Mounting Brackets
1. Install support assembly (1) and plate (2) on heater (3) with four bolts (4) and washers (5). 2. Install guard (6) to heater (3) with two bolts (4), washers (5), and nuts (7).3. Remove four bolts from the fender on the right side of the tractor, to permit installation of the heater. Refer to the bolt pattern for support assembly (1) to determine the bolts to be removed.4. Use four bolts (8) and washers (5) with washers (9) to install assembled heater unit at the location where the four bolts were removed in Step 3.Installation of 3T8728 Circuit Breaker
View from rear of dash.1. Remove a button plug from the front side of the dash panel. Install circuit breaker (10) in the dash panel hole as shown.Use two screws (11) to fasten circuit breaker (10) to the dash panel.2. Connect green wire (B) and purple wire (C) to circuit breaker (10) under the dash panel as shown.
View from above.3. Remove three button plugs from the lower right side of the firewall (as viewed from the operator's seat). Install one grommet (12) and two grommets (13) in the holes where the plugs were removed. 4. Route harness (14) from the dash module to the air conditioning and heater attachment connector on the main wiring harness. Install clip (15) to fasten together the connectors of the two harnesses.Use cable straps (16) to secure harness (14) to the main wiring harness as shown.Installation of Heater Hoses
1. Remove the air cleaner housing from the engine.2. Drain the engine cooling system so the coolant level is below the level of the engine oil cooler. 3. Remove a plug from the coolant bypass and outlet elbow, located at the front of the engine. Install bushing (17), one elbow (18) and one shutoff valve (19).Apply 5P3413 Thread Sealant to threads at the time of installation.4. Remove a plug from the side of the oil cooler bonnet. Install bushing (20), one elbow (18) and one shutoff valve (19) in the plug hole as shown.Apply 5P3413 Thread Sealant to threads of bushing (20) at the time of bushing installation.5. Remove a bolt from the engine air cleaner support, then install clip (21), bolt (22) and spacer (23) at the location shown.Do not tighten bolt (22) at this time. In Step 6 that follows, it is necessary to cut a piece of hose to the length needed. The piece of hose that remains is needed for the other heater connection that is to be completed in Step 7. In the procedure that follows, put one clamp (25) on each end of each piece of hose (24) before the hose end is fully
