Information:
End Pin Joint
1. Position the dial indicator as shown in Illustration 1. If the vertical movement within the joint is 1.5 mm (.059 in) or less, and the joint accepts lubricant without leaking, no further inspection is required on the end pin joint. If the movement is greater than 1.5 mm (.059 in), the joint should be disassembled and the parts inspected for wear.2. Measure the pin for a wear step. Replace the pin if the wear step is greater than 1.0 mm (.039 in). See Chart A for normal pin diameters.3. Rotate the pin so the least worn surface is at the top of the joint if the pin is reusable.4. Measure the inside diameter of the spherical bearing. See Chart B for the normal bushing inside diameters. Replace the bearing if the wear is greated than 1.0 mm (.039 in).5. Inspect the surfaces of the spherical ball and the cups of the bearing. Replace the bearing if the spherical ball is loose in the bearing or if there is evidence of damage to the contact surfaces of the bearing.

Illustration 2. A typical view of an equalizer bar on any high sprocket machine.1. Attach the magnetic base to the equalizer bar and place the contact point on the equalizer bar saddle as shown in Illustration 2. If the total movement is less than 2.5 mm (.10 in), the center pin joint does not need to be disassembled.2. If the total movement is greater than than 2.5 mm (.10 in), as shown in Illustration 2, the bearing should be replaced. See Chart C for the specific parts.
