Remove the torque converter, the transmission, and the output transfer gears from the machine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Torque Converter, Transmission and Output Transfer Gears - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Position the torque converter, the transmission, and the transfer case on suitable blocks, as shown.
Remove bolts (2) and tube assembly (1) from the pumps.

Remove bolts (3), tube assembly (5) and transmission magnetic screen (4) .

Remove the bolts and relief valve (6) from the torque converter.

Attach a suitable lifting device to implement pump (7). The weight of implement pump (7) is approximately 35 kg (77 lb). Remove bolts (8) and implement pump (7) .

Attach a suitable lifting device to steering pump (10) and transmission pump (11). The weight of the three pumps as a unit is approximately 73 kg (160 lb).
Remove bolts (9). Remove steering pump (10), transmission pump (11), and brake pump (12) from the torque converter.

Remove tube assembly (15), bolts (14) and (16), and manifold (13) .

Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to torque converter (18). Install Tooling (B) to the transmission, as shown. The weight of torque converter (18) is approximately 240 kg (529 lb).
Remove bolts (17) and torque converter (18) from the transmission.
