Removal Procedure
Accidental machine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the machine.To avoid accidental machine starting, turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position and remove the key. If the machine is not equipped with a battery disconnect switch, disconnect the battery cables from the battery and tape the battery clamps.Place a do not operate tag at the battery disconnect switch location to inform personnel that the machine is being worked on.
Note: Put identification on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This will help in order to prevent fluid loss. This helps in order to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Release the system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure - Release" for more information.

(1) Grapple arms

Remove bolt (3) and the nut from pivot pin (2) .
Remove pivot pin (2) .
Slide cylinder (4) out of the grapple arm.

Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting device to grapple arm (1) .
Remove bolt (6) from pivot pin (5) .
For the arm on the right side of the felling head, remove locknut (7) and the washer.Note: When you remove the left grapple arm cylinder, it is not necessary to remove the locknut. The pivot pin can be removed from the top.
Remove grapple arm (1). The weight of grapple arm (1) is 78 kg (172 lb).
Repeat Step 1 through Step 8 for the other grapple arm.
