Information:

Loading
Load on level or on a slight uphill grade. Downhill loading results in material being forced against the elevator, causing carry-over of material.1. Reduce speed when entering the cut. 2. Move cushion ride control to LOCKDOWN for better control. 3. Move ejector to the rear and close ejector floor. 4. Use transmission hold to prevent upshifting of transmission during loading. Use differential lock in poor underfooting. 5. Maintain high engine RPM. Start elevator. Select elevator speed suited to material being loaded (higher elevator speed for softer material). 6. Lower bowl until cutting edge is at proper depth (shallow cut for hard material and deeper cut for soft material). 7. Do not force material into bowl. Allow elevator to sweep the material. 8. Move transmission control VCTC slots when necessary for efficient loading or when wheel slippage is a problem. 9. Raise bowl slowly when it is full to leave cut smooth. Stop elevator when cutting edge is out of ground. 10. Raise bowl just high enough to clear obstacles. Accelerate immediately to travel speed after leaving cut.Straddle Loading
For efficient loading, leave a ridge about 5 or 6 feet (1.5 to 1.8 M) wide between cuts. On succeeding passes, pick up the ridges at a depth below previous cuts. This will leave ridges, repeating the cycle. Repeat until finish depth is reached.Hauling
1. Carry load as close to the ground as possible. Depending on conditions, travel at the highest safe speed. 2. Engage cushion ride control for better ride. For better control do not use cushion ride on slopes or in sharp turns. 3. Use retarder or service brake to control speed on downgrade, or when entering a curve or fill area. 4. Keep engine RPM below 2300, and retarder temperature below 270°F (135°C).5. When approaching a downgrade, slow down to allow transmission to downshift. Then use transmission hold pedal to hold transmission at lower speed. 6. Use transmission hold to prevent unwanted upshifting in rough underfooting, or when approaching a grade. 7. In poor underfooting, applying differential lock will help prevent wheel slippage.
Do not attempt to turn machine with differential lock applied.
Dumping and Spreading
1. Move cushion ride lever to LOCKDOWN for better control while dumping. 2. Approach fill in line with dump area. Lower bowl to spread height. 3. Pull ejector-floor lever at start of dump area. Run elevator in reverse if material tends to stick in bowl. 4. Spread at highest practical travel speed. Use transmission hold to maintain constant speed. 5. When bowl is empty, raise bowl slowly to travel height to leave fill smooth. 6. Push ejector-floor control to RETURN position. 7. Accelerate to safe travel speed as soon as practical, and return to the cut. 8. Engage cushion ride control for smoother ride.Large Objects
Driving over large objects to load could cause transmission case damage.
When moving large objects, open floor and maneuver over object. Lower bowl and close floor with elevator running. To unload, open door and run elevator in reverse, if necessary.
