Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

If necessary, remove crankshaft from the engine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft - Remove" for the correct procedure.
Use a suitable puller in order to remove gear (3) from crankshaft (2).
If necessary, use a suitable tool in order to remove dowel (1) from crankshaft (2). Do not remove the dowel unless the dowel is damaged. Installation Procedure

Ensure that all components of the crankshaft gear and the crankshaft are clean and free from wear and damage. Replace any components that are worn or damaged.

If necessary, install a new dowel (1) to crankshaft (2). Ensure that the dowel is correctly seated into the crankshaft.
Hot parts or hot components can cause burns or personal injury. Do not allow hot parts or components to contact your skin. Use protective clothing or protective equipment to protect your skin.
In order to prevent damage to the crankshaft gear, do not heat the engine oil pump spline drive above 150° C (302° F).
Use Tooling (A) in order to heat a new crankshaft gear (3) to a temperature of 100° 150°C (180° 270°F). Note: Do not use a torch to the heat the oil pump spline drive.
Install the new crankshaft gear (3) to crankshaft (2). Ensure that the new crankshaft gear is correctly seated against the crankshaft.
If necessary, install crankshaft to the engine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft - Install" for the correct procedure.
