When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
0R8017 Cylinder Packs may have been built with the incorrect 176-5744 Piston Crown. The 0R8017 Cylinder Packs should be built with the correct 221-2305 Piston Crown.
ACTION REQUIRED
All 0R8017 Cylinder Packs in dealer parts stock need to be inspected to be sure that they have been built with the correct 221-2305 piston crown.
Remove the 0R8017 cylinder pack from the box and inspect the piston crown part number. (Image1)
- If the part number on the piston crown is 221-2305, the correct piston crown has been used. Return the cylinder pack to the original packaging, mark the outside of the box to indicate the cylinder pack has been inspected according to this PI7####, and return to dealer parts stock. No further action is required
- If the part number on the piston crown is 176-5744, or is not 221-2305, remove the cylinder pack from dealer parts stock.

SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Submit one claim for all cylinder packs inspected.
0.5 hours will be allowed for every two cylinder packs inspected.
Example:
- Two cylinder packs inspected = 0.5 hour claim
- Four cylinder packs inspected = 1.0 hour claim
PARTS DISPOSITION
A Send It Back Parts Return Request will be generated when the claim is submitted.
