Using the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to enter the Implement Hydraulic Service Mode
Move the machine away from other operating machines and away from personnel. Park the machine on a smooth, level surface. Lower the bucket and/or attachments to the ground. Stop the engine.
Connect the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to the machine.Reference: For additional information on use of the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET), refer to Troubleshooting and Testing and Adjusting, "Using Caterpillar Electronic Technician to Determine Diagnostic Codes" for the machine that is being serviced.
Start the machine.
Open the software program for the ET.
Select "Implement 988G" from the "ECM Selector" screen and click on the "OK" button.
Select "Diagnostic Tests" menu in the ET.
Select "Implement Hydraulic Service Mode" from the "Diagnostic Tests" menu. Follow the instructions that are on the screen. The machine is now in the service mode.Note: When the machine is in the service mode, the implements will operate slowly.
The service mode will deactivate when you exit the "Diagnostic Tests" menu.Using Caterpillar Monitoring System to enter the "Implement Hydraulic Service Mode"

Start the machine.
Enter the implement calibration mode. Toggle and hold the "Mode" switch until -7- is shown on the display. Release the "Mode" switch when -7- is shown on the display.
Enter the submode for calibrating the lift raise solenoid. Toggle the "Scroll" switch until _ _80 _ _ is shown on the display.
Toggle the "Clear" switch. The display should show 8001_ _. If the parking brake is applied the display will show 8002_ _.Note:
If the parking brake is not already set, set the parking brake. The display should show 8002_ _.
Install the steering frame lock.
Toggle the "Clear" switch. The display should change in order to show 8003_ _.
Engage the STIC control lock. The display should change in order to show 8004_ _.
Increase the engine RPM above 1800 RPM. The display should change to 8005_ _.
Warm the hydraulic oil to normal operating temperature.
Toggle the "Clear" switch. The display should change in order to show 8006_ _. The machine is in the implement hydraulic test mode when the display shows 8006_ _.
Toggle the "Clear" switch in order to exit the implement hydraulic service mode.
