This Program must be administered either before or after failure.In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS45240" as the Part Numberand "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code.If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the 29Sep2016 (Revised 20Apr2017) Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Service Claim Allowances.

PROBLEM
The existing high pressure fuel pump can fail on certain 3512E HD Petroleum Engines, and SPF743 Trailer Mounted Pumpers. If the existing high pressure fuel pump fails it can/will cause downtime and potentially more damage to the fuel system.

This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer.
ACTION REQUIRED
Once the high pressure fuel pump has operated for 1000 hours, replace the pump. Some engines will require more than 1 pump replacement based on engine hours accumulation rates.
Record the new and old pump serial number during replacement.
Follow Special Instruction, M0074642, "Installing the High-Pressure Fuel Pump on Certain 3512E Tier 4 Final Engines".
For the old fuel pump that was removed, refer to the Parts Disposition.
Include the new and old pump serial number in the claim.

PARTS DISPOSITION
For the old fuel pump that was removed, hold the fuel pump for a Parts Return Request (PRR). A Parts Return Request (PRR) will be issued to you through the Send-It-Back process after the claim is submitted. Make sure to list the service letter program number on the packing slip and include the closed work order paperwork.
