Under Right Operator Station (11) Right operator ECM (12) Connector "J1" (13) Connector "J2"Right operator ECM (11) is located under the right operator seat. This ECM has two 70-pin connectors. Connector "J1" (12) is the rear connector, and connector "J2" (13) is the front connector.Note: The left operator ECM and the right operator ECM are the same.Right operator ECM (11) monitors input devices which are located in the right operator station. This ECM communicates with the other ECMs through the Cat Data Link.

Right Operator ECM Connector "J1" and "J2"When the electrical disconnect switch is in the ON position, power transfers from fuse "F23" to terminal "J1-31", to terminal "J1-39", and to terminal "J1-47" of right operator ECM (11). This voltage input provides the power for the processor. When the engine start switch is in the ON position, power transfers from contact "1" of the switch to terminal "J1-1" of the right operator ECM. This voltage input provides the wakeup signal to the right operator ECM. The right operator ECM is grounded at terminal "J1-13", at terminal "J1-23", and at terminal "J1-57".Right operator ECM (11) monitors the condition of the circuit at terminal "J2-27" in order to determine the position of the vibrator switch on the right instrument panel. When the circuit at terminal "J2-27" is grounded, the ECM determines that the vibrator switch is in the ON position. When the circuit at terminal "J2-27" is floating, the ECM determines that the vibrator switch is in the OFF position.Terminal "J2-22" of right operator ECM (11) provides a common ground for the vibrator switch.The machine must be in the PAVE mode and operating in the forward direction, for the vibrator to operate. When the machine is in forward pave mode, and the active vibratory switch is in the ON position, right operator ECM (11) receives a vibratory speed signal from the screed ECM and generates an output signal from terminal "J1-59". This signal energizes the vibratory solenoid. The drive signal is proportional to the position of the vibrator speed dial. The vibratory solenoid is grounded at terminal "J1-60".The machine ECM and the two operator ECMs are externally the same. However, due to internal differences, the machine ECM has a different part number than the operator ECMs. In order to prevent incorrect software installation, the harness configuration at each ECM provides a series of switch input signals. These signals identify the unit's function. Right operator ECM (11) is wired as follows:
Terminal "J1-26" (ground)
Terminal "J1-27" (open)
Terminal "J1-28" (ground)
Terminal "J1-32" (open)Right operator ECM (11) communicates with left operator ECM (8) and the machine ECM with electronic service tools through the Cat Data Link. The Cat Data Link is a proprietary communication standard developed by Caterpillar. The Cat Data Link requires a positive line and a negative line. The positive line is connected to terminal "J1-10" of the machine ECM.
