(1) Transmission oil cooler
(2) Transmission inlet/outlet for transmission oil going to oil coolerTransmission oil cooler (1) is bolted to the bottom of the flywheel housing between the engine and the torque converter. Oil from the torque converter is sent to transmission oil cooler (1) through transmission inlet/outlet lines (2). The oil is cooled by coolant from the engine cooling package. Oil is returned to the torque converter through transmission inlet/outlet lines (2). The cooled oil enters the transmission lube oil circuit and drains into the transmission oil sump. The remainder of the oil is returned to the transmission oil sump. There is a temperature sensor mounted on the bottom of the torque converter near the fittings for lines (2). The temperature sensor monitors the temperature of the oil.
