Illustration 2. 8S2241 Camshaft Bearing Installation And Removal Group.As shown in Illustration 3, the camshaft bearing is fastened between the 6V4014 Pilot and the 6V4012 Back-Up Plate which act as guides during the press fit installation of the bearing. Proper bearing alignment procedures are given in the Service Manuals.

Camshaft bearing being removed with extension.The 6V4015 Pulling Bar is fastened to the flywheel housing and is used with the 6V4013 Screw and the 5P5247 Hydraulic Puller (Illustration 5). The 8H684 Ratchet (not shown) can be used. The 6V4015 Pulling Bar can also be used on the front housing if the cam bearings are to be pulled forward (Illustration 6). When the bar is used on the front of the engine, the two 6V4005 Spacers must be used between the puller bar and the engine to give the bar enough clearance from the engine cover.
