Use caution when draining oil or changing filters. Hot oil or components can cause burns if they contact skin.
Change the oil with the engine stopped and the oil warm. 1. Wipe the dirt from each oil filter housing end cover. 2. Remove the vent plug from each cover. 3. Remove the oil filter housing drain plug. 4. Remove the oil cooler drain plug.5. Remove the oil pan drain plug.6. Install new oil filter elements. See the topic OIL FILTER CHANGE period.7. Install all drain plugs that were removed.8. Fill the filter housing and oil cooler with oil. Add the oil through the vent plug openings.9. Fill the crankcase to the FULL mark on the dipstick. See Refill Capacities.10. Install all vent plugs.Cleaning Crankcase Breather(s)-Clean breathers at every oil change
1. Loosen the front hose clamp (G399 only). 2. Remove breather mounting bolts and remove breather(s). 3. Remove and inspect upper and lower hoses from breathers (G399 only). 4. Clean breather(s) in clean nonflammable solvent.5. Install breather(s) and lower hose. Install upper hose and tighten all clamps.
