Note: Bearing housings are installed onto the crankshaft after the main bearings are installed.Note: Each bearing housing is mated with a cap half and a rod half. The two mated halves MUST stay paired together.Note: The WS223, WS273, and WS305 bearing housing cap half should have two external dowel pins welded in place to retain the cap half bearing. The internal depth of the dowel pin should be 6.35 mm (0.25 inch).Note: Use caution when installing the thrust bearings. Ensure that the thrust bearings are aligned correctly into the bearing housing.Note: Ensure that all components are thoroughly cleaned.Note: WS223 Rod half bearing will have a lube groove in the center. This bearing half is not illustrated in this work instruction.

Separate the rod half from the cap half.

Apply Loctite 263® High Strength Threadlocker to the last 3 threads to 4 threads of the studs.
Install six studs (2) into the rod half of the bearing housings until each stud is fully engaged. Ensure that the studs are engaged with all threads in the bearing housing.
Flip the rod half over onto a level surface to ensure that the studs are installed completely and at the same depth.
Identify the cap half bearing and the rod half bearing. The cap half has two dowel pins to hold the cap half bearing in the appropriate location.
Clean all the bearing surfaces.
Insert the thrust bearing into the rod half of the bearing housing. Confirm that the bearing is fully seated in the housing.
Insert the thrust bearing into the cap half of the bearing housing. Ensure that the bearing is fully seated over the dowel pins.
Repeat Steps 1 and 8 above for the remaining bearing assembly housings.
Using a suitable lifting device, raise the crankshaft and stabilize at a height that is best for assembly. Confirm that the crankshaft is stable and safe to work on.

Completely cover the crankshaft journal with a dry lubricant (dry moly).
Apply a liberal coating of 129-1966 Multipurpose Grease or equivalent to the crankshaft journal.
Use a floor jack and a board to help support the rod half of the bearing housing. Place the rod half onto the jack or board and slide underneath the crankshaft journal.
Raise the rod half until the rod half is sitting in the proper position against the crankshaft journal.
Place the cap half on top of the crankshaft journal.Note: Make sure that the dowel pins in the cap half are aligned with the dowel holes in the rod half.

Apply Loctite 263 High Strength Threadlocker to the last 3 threads to 4 threads of the bolts.
Secure the cap half to the rod half with two bolts (3) and two washers (4) in opposite corners to hold the two halves
