The equalizer bar center pin needs to be replaced on the products listed below. The existing pin can fracture and cause damage to the frame. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 01Dec2011 when scheduling this service.
We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, but urge you to have this service performed as soon as possible to prevent unscheduled downtime.

Rework Procedure
Remove Original Equalizer Bar Center Pin
1. Refer to KENR5606 "Equalizer Bar - Remove and Install" for required tooling.
2. Remove the Bottom Guard Assembly (1) behind the equalizer bar to access the equalizer bar center pin.
3. Use a suitable container to drain the engine oil from the flywheel housing oil pan(3). Remove plug (4). Remove flywheel housing oil pan (3).
4. Clamp the coolant hoses to generator. Drain generator coolant into a suitable container.
5. Remove fitting/valve (2) for clearance to tooling (C).
6. Raise the front of the D7E enough to release pressure on the center pin.
7. Place two stands under the front frame of the D7E to support the tractor.
8. Remove the bolt from the pin assembly (6). Use Tooling (C) to remove the pin assembly (6).

Install new Equalizer Bar Center Pin
1. Refer to KENR5606 "Equalizer Bar - Remove and Install" for required tooling.
2. Apply NLGI No. 2 grease (129-1938) to the bearing surfaces
3. Install the new 334-8958 Equalizer Bar Center Pin and retaining bolt.
4. Install the flywheel housing oil pan (3) and the oil pan plug (4).
5. Install coolant fitting/valve (2).
6. Refill engine oil and coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct refill capacity.
7. Remove stands and lower the D7E to the ground.
8. Start machine and check for leaks.
9. Install the Bottom Guard Assembly.
