20. Put link (13) and bushing (12) in position in tooling (C) as shown. Make sure the flat area or bolster (15) [part of tooling (C)] is against the flat area of the link. Remove bushing (12) from link (13). 21. Remove seals (16) from the links.Assemble Track
Check all parts of the track assembly for wear or damage. Make replacements if necessary. Make sure all parts are clean and dry before assembly.
The seal assembly must be completely sealed in the link counterbore. The load ring of the seal assembly must make a minimum amount of contact with oil. Oil causes the load ring to expand. This is not desired until after assembly.
1. Use tool (D) to install the seal assembly (the seal and load ring) in the links as shown in illustration A82927P1.
Make sure there is contact at area (X) between the seal and load ring.
Use a maximum force of 1080 kN (242,000 lb). When the track is assembled.
Typical Example2. Put SAE 90W gear oil on each end of bushing (12) for a minimum length of 6.5 mm (.256 in).
Make sure there is clearance between link (13) and bolster (15) [part of tooling (A)]. Install the 5P9688 Receiver (4) [part of tooling (A)] with the small outside diameter (step) toward bolster (15) [part of tooling (A)].
3. Make an alignment of the counterbore in 5P9688 Receiver (4) [part of tooling (A)] with bushing (12). Use tooling (A) and install bushing (12) in link (13) until the bushing makes contact with the bottom of the counterbore in the 5P9688 Receiver. The bushing must extend 1.70 0.13 mm (.067 .005 in) above the surface of the link.
Make sure there is clearance between link (11) and bolster (5) [part of tooling (A)]. Install the 5P9688 Receiver (4) [part of tooling (A)] with the small outside diameter (step) toward bolster (15) [part of tooling (A)].
4. Put link (11), bushing (12) and link (13) in position in tooling (A) as shown. Install tooling (E) for alignment purposes. The surface of the link with the bolt holes in it must be against the arm of tool (A) as shown in the illustration.5. Make an alignment of the counterbore in 5P9688 Receiver (4) [part of tooling (A)] with bushing (12). Use tooling (A) and install bushing (12) in link (11) until the bushing makes contact with the bottom of the counterbore in the 5P9688 Receiver. Typical Example6. Install tooling (B) between the links.7. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound only on the surface of the thrust washers that make contact with the bushing. Install thrust washers (14).
Typical Example8. Fasten a hoist and put links (11), (13) and bushing (12) in position. Use tooling (B) as needed to put the links and bushing in place. Install tool (F) for alignment of the links, bushings and thrust rings. 9. Put oil on the stopper and install it in pin (10) with
