The 7N-2171 Retaining Ring (4) is assembled into the 115-2553 Governor Servo Valve (3) ring groove FURTHEST from the clevis (rack linkage pin). The 7N-2171 Retaining Ring is captured in a counter bore in the 117-9098 Limiting Sleeve to prevent it from coming out of the ring groove.
Type V-VI
* Type V-VI Governors Can be identified by the FRC being part of the governor housing.This assembly has the 9Y-1837 Spring (1) guided on the hub of the 117-9099 Limit Flange (2). The 7N-2171 Retaining Ring (4) is assembled into the 115-2553 Governor Servo Valve (3) ring groove CLOSEST to the clevis (rack linkage pin). The 7N-2171 Retaining Ring is captured in a counter bore in the 117-9099 Limit Flange to prevent it from coming out of the 115-2553 Governor Servo Valve ring groove.
If the 117-9099 Limit Flange is reversed on the type V and VI 115-2553 Governor Servo Valve and the 7N-2171 Retaining Ring is placed in the ring groove FURTHEST from the clevis, the retaining ring is not captured. The retaining ring could come off during operation and the engine will go to SHUT OFF.
