Component Code: 7490SUBJECT: The Navigator Touchscreen Display Can Remain in a Black Screen State when the "Power On" LED Is Illuminated
PROBLEM:
The Navigator Touchscreen Display (228-0374 Electronic Display Gp or 228-6692 Monitor Display Gp) that is used with CAESultra may remain in a black screen state at start up. The green "Power On" LED in the upper left hand corner is illuminated. The root cause of this problem has not yet been determined.
Note: This problem has only been seen at start-up.
SOLUTION:
Steps that can be taken to reduce the chances of the display demonstrating this problem:
Do NOT move the keystart switch directly to the crank position.
Turn the keystart switch to the ON position and wait until the display has reached the Caterpillar five-minute countdown screen (See Illustration 1).
Once the display reaches the Caterpillar five-minute countdown screen, the keystart switch can be turned to the crank position.
Note: Do not crank the engine once the five minute countdown timer has completed. Cranking the engine once the software application has started may cause data corruption. Turn the keystart switch to OFF position and repeat the process.
