Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

Install O-ring seal (6) to final drive (7) .

The weight of the ring gear is 16 kg (35 lb). Position ring gear (4) to the hub assembly. Use Tooling (B) in order to pull the ends of snap ring (5) together. Maneuver the gear until snap ring (5) secures the gear to the hub assembly.

Attach a chain, a hoist, and Tooling (A) to the final drive. Position the final drive to the wheel assembly and on two 5/8" - 11 NC guide bolts (1) .

Install two bolts (2) in order to secure the final drive to the wheel assembly. Remove Tooling (A) from the final drive. Remove two 5/8" - 11 NC guide bolts (1) from the bolt holes.
Install remaining bolts (2) that secure the final drive to the wheel assembly. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 185 20 N m (137 15 lb ft). Tighten the bolts to an additional 60 degrees.
