The 16G Motor Graders uses three 2G7463 Inserts. Illustration 1 shows the location of the inserts and shims used to adjust the drawbar ball clearance. Special Instruction, SEHS9184, is included with each new insert and provides installation instructions.
Use the procedure that follows to install new inserts and adjust the drawbar ball clearance.
1. Install correct inserts (1) and adapter (2) on the ball without shims (3). See Illustration 2.
Illustration 2.2. Install bolts (5) that fasten adapter (2) to cap (4).3. Measure the clearance between the cap and adapter with a feeler gauge.4. Remove the adapter.5. Install shims (3), between adapter (2) and cap (4), equal to the amount of clearance measured in Step 3 plus additional shims required to provide a drawbar ball clearance of 0.05 to 0.25 mm (.002 to .010").6. Put the drawbar in position so bolts (6) that fasten the adapter and cap assembly to the front frame can be installed. Tighten bolts (6) to the torque specified in the appropriate Service Manual Module.
