Remove the side cover of the drive unit.

Inspect the chain for wear or for damage. Replace the chain, if necessary.
Check the tension of the chain. The chain should deflect about 3.2 mm (0.13 inch) between the two gears. If the tension of the chain needs to be adjusted, perform the following procedure.

Loosen the two bolts (1) for the motor and the two bolts (3) for the adjusting cam.
Turn the center weldnut (2) on the cam in order to adjust the tension of the chain.
Tighten the two bolts for the adjusting cam.
Tighten the two bolts for the motor.
Install the side cover.
