Gouge out the complete weld bead from plate (1) and the main side plate (2). Plate (1) may be removed now. Continue to gouge out the weld bead for a distance of 150 mm (5.9 inch) (Z) below Point (Y). This procedure is for removing the weld bead between the main side plate and the center plate (3) .

Chamfer the material along the crack. (B) 60 degrees angle (C) Thickness of plate (35 mm (1.4 inch))
On the left side of the main side plate (2), cut a chamfer into the thickness of plate (2) along the path of the crack to a depth of 20 mm (0.8 inch). The chamfer should be equally divided on each side of the crack. The crack should be equal to the length of the crack plus 50 mm (2.0 inch). Refer to Illustration 6.
Weld the V-groove with the appropriate wire. Avoid any temperature over 200 °C (392 °F) between weld passes.
Make a chamfer on the opposite side of the main plate according to the same directions as the first chamfer. Fill the second gouged groove with the weld bead.
Grind the welds on both sides and the front edge of the plate in order to eliminate any undercut, overlap, or protrusions.

Weld a bead from Point (X) to Point (Y) along the contact point between the main side plate (2) and the center plate (3). This weld bead is placed on the upper side of the frame. Extend the weld bead through distance (Z) that is 150 mm (5.9 inch) beyond the point (Y). Use Illustration 7 in order to identify the location of the weld bead.
Remove the eyes that were welded to the main plate in Step 4 of the section ""Preparing the Machine for Servicing"". Grind the area smooth and clean up any welding spatter, protrusions, or welding debris.

Dimensions for Plate 4 (D) 80.0 mm (3.15 inch) Diameter (E) 90.0 mm (3.54 inch) Radius (F) 18.0 mm (0.71 inch) (G) 13.0 mm (0.51 inch) by 45 degrees (H) 25.0 mm (1.00 inch) (J) 325.0 mm (12.80 inch) (K) 110.5 mm (4.35 inch) (L) 129.5 0.5 mm (5.10 0.02 inch)
Fabricate plate (4) from the dimensions that are given in Illustration 8. Use a structural steel with a minimum yield of 450 MPa. The new side plate will be welded in the place of the former side plate.
Place the plate into position. Center the hole in the plate with the pin hole in the main plate. Tack weld the plate into position and verify the final location. Place an 8 mm (0.3 inch) weld bead completely around the plate. All vertical welds should be made in a vertical up pass. Avoid temperatures in excess of 200 °C (392 °F) between passes. Refer to Illustration 7.
