28. Install pistons (38) and (39) in housing (40). 29. Put remaining clutch plate (34) on the No. 1 clutch side of the housing. Use tooling (D) to hold plate (34) and clutch pistons (38) and (39) in housing (40). 30. Install tooling (E) and a hoist on housing (40). Install housing (40), and remove tooling (D) and (E). The weight of the housing is 32 kg (70 lb.). 31. Install four rods (41) and ring gear (42). 32. Install five plates (44) and five discs (43) for the No. 2 clutch. Start with a plate. 33. Install plate (46) and bolts (48). Do not tighten bolts until all bolts (83) in Step 62 have been threaded into cover assembly (1); then tighten bolts (48) to a torque of 110 10 N m (80 7 lb.ft.). Remove guide bolts (32), and install springs (47) and ring gear (45). 34. Install three discs (49) and two plates (50) for the No. 3 clutch. Start with a disc. The remaining plate will be installed with the piston housing. 35. Install bearings (52) in gears (51).36. Install six gears (51) and washers (53) in the carrier. 37. Install shafts (54) in carrier (55) that hold the washers and the gears in position. Install pins (56) that hold shafts (54) in place.
Be sure the rubber in the pins is not damaged. If the rubber is damaged, a replacement of the pins must be made.
38. Install ring (57) on carrier (55). 39. Install carrier (55) on carrier (19). 40. Install seal rings (56) and (57) on each of the No. 3 and No. 4 clutch pistons. The lips of the seal rings, when installed, must be toward the piston housing or away from the piston as shown. 41. Install the No. 3 and No. 4 clutch pistons (58) in housing (59). 42. Put the remaining plate (50) on the No. 3 clutch side of the housing. Use tooling (D) to hold plate (50) and clutch pistons (58) in housing (59).43. Install tooling (E) and a hoist on housing (59). Install housing (59), and remove tooling (D) and (E). The weight of housing (59) is 32 kg (70 lb.). 44. Install plate (60) in ring gear (61). 45. Install retaining ring (62) to hold plate (63) in position. 46. Install ring gear (61) in the No. 4 clutch housing. 47. Use tooling (F) to install the bearings in each end of shaft (62). The bearings are installed flush with the ends of the shaft. 48. Put gear (63) on shaft (62), and install retaining ring (64) with tool (B). 49. Install shaft assembly (65) in the ring gear. 50. Install five discs (66) and four plates (67) for the No. 5 clutch. Start and end with a disc. 51. Install three plates (69) and three discs (68) for the No. 4 clutch.
