Insert guide rods (3) into the mounting holes for the counterweight. Nuts (2) are provided to aid in tightening the guide rods in the holes. Remove nuts (2) when the guide rods are snug in the holes.

Install an eyebolt into plate (9). Use a suitable lifting device, and slide plate (9) over the three guide rods installed in Step 5. Ensure that the innermost hole on plate (9) will line up with hole (G) called out in Illustration 17 in Step 4.Note: Do not slide the plate all the way in to bumper plate. Eyebolt (13) will be removed and replaced with a bolt in the next step.

Remove the eyebolt from plate (9), and install bolt (1) and washer (4) into the hole and tighten. Slide plate (9) forward against the bumper plate.

Repeat Step 6 and Step 7 to install a second plate (9). Ensure that the innermost hole is lined up with hole (G), and slide second plate (9) against the first plate (9). Install bolt (6) and washer (7) through the innermost hole on the plate and tighten into hole (G) .Note: To avoid binding of rods (3), use a support device to hold plates (9) while tightening bolt (6) .

Install plate (10) in the same manner as plates (9). The innermost hole on plate (10) will go over bolt (6) and washer (7) .

Clean all affected work surfaces thoroughly. Top coat paint the edges of the three plates. Allow to dry before proceeding to Step 11.

Use suitable lifting device, and slide the counterweight forward against plate (10). One at a time, replace guide rods (3) with bolt (8) and washer (7) .Note: To avoid binding of rods (3), use a support device to hold plates (10) while tightening bolts (8) .
When bolts (8) are tight, remove the eyebolt, and reinstall bolt and washer (12) from Step 2.

Route the wire harness back through the hole in the counterweight to the light fixture cavity. Reinstall light fixture (11) and tighten the four screws.
Cover the exposed portion of the wire harness with 145-8494 Guard (5) .
Repeat Step 1 through Step 14 for the other counterweight.

Recheck work to ensure completion, remove tooling and safety equipment, and place the machine back in service.
