G342 Natural Gas EnginesDescription of Change: New hardened gears are used in camshaft assemblies and accessory drive groups for the above engines. The new gears are expected to give longer service life than the former gears, with less tooth pitting (surface damage) in some applications.Adaptable As: Direct replacement when the necessary parts are used together. The new camshaft gear and accessory drive gear must be installed together as a set. Do not install either of the new hardened gears to run against a former gear which is not hardened. Each of the new camshaft assemblies shown in the parts chart is the same as the former assembly, except for the new gear as shown, and installation of the gear will change the former assembly to the new assembly. When either the new camshaft gear or camshaft assembly is installed, also install the new accessory drive gear for the specific engine.
