Loosen nut (9) . Remove case assembly (10) from the fuel filter base.

Remove gasket (11) from the fuel filter base. Use Tooling (A) to remove clip (12) that secures nut (9) to the fuel filter base.

Remove seal O-ring (13) from nut (9) .

Remove filter element (14) from case (15) .

Use Tooling (A) to remove retaining ring (16) from the stud. Remove retainer (17) and spring (18) from the stud.

Remove two bolts (19) and the washers that secure pump assembly (21) to the fuel filter base. Remove the fuel priming pump from the fuel filter base. Remove gasket (22) from the fuel filter base.Installation Procedure
Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

Install gasket (22) to the fuel filter base. Position the fuel priming pump to the fuel filter base. Install two bolts (19) and the washers that secure pump assembly (21) to the fuel filter base.

Install retainer (17) and spring (18) to the stud. Use Tooling (A) to install retaining ring (16) to the stud.

Install filter element (14) to case (15) .

Install seal O-ring (13) to nut (9) .

Use Tooling (A) to install clip (12) that secures nut (9) to the fuel filter base. Install gasket (11) to the fuel filter base.

Install case assembly (10) to the fuel filter base. Use Tooling (B) to tighten nut (9) to 24 4 N m (18 3 lb ft) .

Position the fuel filter assembly to the hydraulic tank. Install two bolts (8) and the washers that secure the fuel filter base to the hydraulic tank.

If necessary, loosen retaining nut (7) in order to move tube (6) to the fuel filter base. Connect tube (6) to fuel filter base (3) . Tighten retaining nut (5) . Tighten retaining nut (7) .
If necessary, loosen retaining nut (4) in order to move tube (2) to the fuel filter base. Connect tube (2) to fuel filter base (3) . Tighten retaining nut (1) . Tighten retaining nut (4) .
Prime the fuel system.
