Close the jaws of the work tool and remove the work tool from the host machine. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, GEBJ0067, "Pulverizer Attachment - Remove and Install". Install a small block of wood between the jaws in order to relieve the tension on the lower cylinder pin.
Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Ensure that the work tool is resting on a hard, level surface.

Position the work tool with crushing arm (1) at the top.

Install lock pin (2) in order to prevent the work tool from rotating.

Remove the six bolts and the washers that secure cover (3) to the housing. Remove the cover from the work tool.
Put identification marks on all hoses for installation purposes. Plug all hoses in order to help prevent fluid loss and contamination of the fluid system.

Remove two hose assemblies (4) from the cylinder. Remove the O-ring seals from the adapters. Position the hoses out of the way.
Remove hose assembly (5) .

Attach an appropriate nylon lifting sling and a hoist to cylinder (6). The weight of the cylinder is 268 kg (591 lb).

Remove two bolts (7) and the washers that secure plate (8) to the crushing arm.
Use Tooling (A) in order to remove plate (8) .

Use a hammer and a brass drift to remove pin (9). Ensure that the pin does not drop from the work tool. The weight of the pin is 17 kg (38 lb).
Remove two spacers (10) from cylinder (6).

Use Tooling (A) in order to remove plate (12) .
