Remove the rear drive axle. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rear Drive Axle - Remove".

Position axle housing (1) so that differential carrier (2) faces upward. Install Tooling (A) under the axle in order to secure the housing in an upright position.
Remove 28 bolts (3), the washers, and the spacers.

Install four M16 x 2 forcing bolts (4) to differential carrier (2). Tighten the bolts evenly in order to separate the carrier from axle housing (1) .
Install Tooling (B), an appropriate nylon lifting sling, and a hoist to yoke (5). Lift the differential carrier from the axle housing. The weight of the differential assembly is approximately 295 kg (650 lb).
