Use a suitable press and a piece of pipe to seat the roller bearing assembly (not shown) in bearing cage (1). The pipe must have a length of 90 mm (3.54 inch) and an internal diameter of 82 mm (3.23 inch). Attach Tooling (C) (not shown) and a suitable lifting device to bearing cage (1). Remove bearing cage (1) from the press. The weight of bearing cage (1) is approximately 123 kg (271.2 lb).

Install bolts (10). Tighten bolts (10) to a torque of 55 10 N m (40.6 7.4 lb ft).

Use Tooling (D) to measure the gap between seal retainer (9) and bearing cage (1) in two places. Measure the gaps at 180 degree intervals. To find the total thickness of the shims that are required, average the two measurements. Remove bolts (10) .

Tooling (E) must be modified in order to be used as guide bolts. Position Tooling (E) in a suitable vise. Remove the heads of the bolts in order to use Tooling (E) as guide bolts. Install Tooling (E) in bearing cage (1). Install shims (13) of the thickness that was determined in Step 25. Remove Tooling (E) .

Install O-ring seal (12) on seal retainer (9). Mark lube holes (Z) on seal retainer (9). Mark lube holes (Z) on bearing cage (1) .

Install seal retainer (9) on bearing cage (1). Make sure that lube holes (Z) (not shown) align.

Install yoke assembly (7) on bearing cage (1) .

Install retainer (5) on yoke assembly (7). Install bolt (6) that secures yoke assembly (7). Tighten bolt (6) to a torque of 570 80 N m (420 59 lb ft).

Use Tooling (F) to install retaining ring (4) in ring gear (2) .

Install plate (3) in carrier assembly (14) .
