A new Electronic Control Governor (ECG) has been introduced for certain C2.2 engines on 319-5616 Primary Engine Ar .The new Electronic Control Governor (ECG) enables the engines to have the following characteristics.

The new electronic control governor has the following components.Electronic Control Module (ECM)
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) is a powerful microprocessor-based engine controller. The ECM processes the signals from the engine speed sensor. The ECM compares the signal from the engine speed sensor with the signals from the machine systems. The software is already preprogrammed into the ECM. The software cannot be changed.ECG Speed Sensor
The ECG speed sensor senses the passing of teeth on the engine flywheel. The sensor sends this signal to the controller for the ECG.ECG Actuator
The ECG actuator converts the signal from the controller to an output shaft that directly acts on the fuel injection pump rack of the engine. The actuator is mounted on the engine in place of the standard stop solenoid.Mounting Kit and Isolators
The mountings and isolators are all part of the system for the ECG. The isolators are important. The isolators protect the relay or the fuse box from excessive vibration. The isolators protect the ECU from excessive vibration.Wiring Harness or Relay and Fuse Box
The wiring harness is supplied and clipped at the required points. There are three fuses of the following specifications and two relays of 12 VDC inside the box.

The coolant sensor is unique to this application. The coolant sensor is a type of thermistor that measures resistance according to temperature.Oil Pressure Switch
The oil pressure switch is a switch that is a normally closed contact switch.Diagnosis of System Faults
Standard Systems Check
Visually check the wiring harness in order to ensure that all connections are tight and free of dirt and corrosion.
Check all ground connections in order to ensure that the connections are clean, tight, and free of any corrosion.
Ensure that all fuses can operate.
Check the function of the relay.ECG Actuator
A manual test of the actuator may be performed. Remove the actuator. Then connect the actuator to a 12 V supply in order to ensure movement of the actuator. If there is movement in the actuator. This indicates that there is no problem with the actuator.Coolant Temperature Sensor
This sensor is only installed to this system for the ECG. The sensor cannot be replaced by a different type.
Ensure that the cooling system is filled to the correct level before the sensor is removed in order to conduct a test for a problem with the sensor. If the coolant is at a low level, the sensor will not show the correct value.
A possible overheating condition can be indicated by an engine derate to low idle. The engine will operate a shutdown procedure after a time at the derated speed.
