Do not use a torch to heat camshaft gear (1). Heat camshaft gear (1) to maximum temperature of 315 °C (600 °F).Note: The key for gear (1) must be in position on the camshaft (2) before gear (1) is installed.
Put 8T-2998 Lubricant on the camshaft lobes and the rollers for the valve lifters. Put clean engine oil on the bearing journals of the camshaft.

Put camshaft (2) in position in the cylinder block. Do not push the camshaft completely into the cylinder block until the timing marks are aligned. Refer to Step 4.

Use Tool (A) and turn the crankshaft. Align the timing marks (3) on the camshaft gear and the idler gear. Push the camshaft all the way into the cylinder block. Be sure that the timing marks are in alignment.

Use Tool (A) and turn the crankshaft until the bolts (5) that hold plate (4) can be installed through the holes in the gear.End By:
Install the lifter group. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Lifter Group - Remove and Install".
Install the front housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Housing (Front) - Install".
