To correctly adjust the wheel bearings, the rim and tire must be removed from the axle housing. Then the brake group must also be removed from the axle housing.Tools needed: 6V7920 Spanner Wrench1. Lubricate bearings (2) and (4).2. Install wheel assembly (3) on spindle (1).3. Install hub (7) and nut (6).4. Put a nut on bolt (8).5. Tighten nut (6) while wheel assembly (3) is turned slowly with a torque wrench on bolt (8). The torque wrench must be used so it is in line with the center of the wheel.6. When a 200 mm (7.8 in) long torque wrench is used, the torque must be 8 3 N m (71 27 lb in) to turn wheel assembly (3). For other length torque wrenches, the correct torque figure is obtained with this formula: Where:"C" is the reading on the torque wrench."B" is the length of the torque wrench."A" is the distance from the center of the axle housing to bolt (8) on the wheel - 222.5 mm (8.76 in.)."T" is the torque on wheel for bearing preload. T = 18 6 N m (160 50 lb in).7. Turn wheel slowly at a constant speed for one or two turns to check torque after adjustment has been made.8. Install lock (5), bolts and wire.
