Symbol for the Hour MeterThe "Clear" switch is used in order to step through the program in Caterpillar Monitoring System. The technician should toggle the "Clear" switch as the display for the Caterpillar Monitoring System shows the symbol for the Hour Meter. The numerical code will use as many as six digits. The digits are divided into three fields with two digits in each field. For example, "41_ _02" would be the calibration mode for the maximum current for the solenoid valve (tilt back and dump). The first two digits are the calibration submode for the maximum current for the solenoid valve (tilt back and dump). The last two digits show the position in the calibration. Note: If the machine is not equipped with a tilt linkage position sensor, this calibration is not required.

Joystick ControlThe up arrow refers to the LOWER position. The down arrow refers to the RAISE position. The right arrow refers to the DUMP position. The left arrow refers to the TILT BACK position. The right arrow in detail A refers to the auxiliary lever in the REARWARD position. The left arrow in detail A refers to the auxiliary lever in the FORWARD position.Calibration Procedure
Note: If the machine is equipped with a joystick control, follow the same strategy that is used by the control levers. The joystick control is not equipped with mechanical detents. The joystick control must be held during calibration.
Move away from other operating machines and away from personnel. Park the machine on a smooth, level surface. Lower the work tool to the ground. Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.
Connect the 4C-8195 Control Service Tool to the machine.Reference: Refer to Illustration 1 for the location of the connector for the control service tool.
Start the engine. Operate the machine until the hydraulic oil reaches operating temperature. Ensure that the ride control system is OFF on machines that are so equipped.
Enter the implement calibration mode. Toggle and hold the "Mode" switch until "_ _7_ _" is shown on the display. Release the "Mode" switch. Submode "_ _ 82 _ _" will show on the display.Reference: Refer to Illustration 2 for the location of the display on the panel.
Toggle the Clear switch until the "82 _ _10" is shown on the display.
Toggle the "Scroll" switch until "82_ _41" is shown on the display.
Enter the submode for calibrating the maximum current for the solenoid valve (tilt back and dump). Toggle the "Clear" switch. The display should show "41_ _02". Note: If the parking brake is applied and the switch (hydraulic lockout) is disengaged the display
