The 320-3619 Slide Frame Lock Pistons need to be reworked on the products listed below. The existing 320-3619 can score the slide frame rails. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 11Feb2010 when scheduling this service.

Rework Procedure
Park the machine on firm, level ground. Lower all implements safely to the ground and release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for instructions.
Inspect the condition of the slide frame rails.
Refer to Images 1.1.1 and 1.1.2.
If the slide frame rails are damaged or the pistons can not be machined, contact your Caterpillar Dealerships Technical Communicator and submit this information to the Dealer Solution Network (DSN) in order to obtain the information that is necessary to complete any repairs, making sure to reference this Service Letter number in the Service Request. Take digital photographs of any damage found and attach to the DSN Service Request. Include the machine details (serial number, service meter reading, location and dealer contact details).
If there is no damage to the frame, continue with this rework procedure.

Remove the 320-3619 Pistons from the slide frame casting. This is done by removing the 320-2948 Caps from the slide frame. Withdraw the 320-3619 Piston from the bore using a slide hammer (A long M10 bolt will also work if the puller is not available). The thread in the end of the piston is M10 x 1.5.
Using a precision lathe, machine all four pistons per the following image to remove the sharp edge. There must be a smooth 5mm radius on the piston face before reinstalling the pistons.

Once completed, ensure the pistons are clean and free from any contamination or machining swarf.
Reinstall the pistons in the swing frame and test the machine operation.
When reinstalling the 320-2948 Piston Cover, care should be taken not to damage the 3P-0439 O-Ring Seal. The edges of the piston bore in the swing frame could be sharp. Using a lubricant such as grease on the o-ring seal is recommended.
Before returning the machine to work,
