INSTALL GASKET ON OIL PUMP SUCTION ELBOW 3512 Industrial Engines, 3512 Vehicular Engines, 3516 Vehicular Engines, 1302, 1304, PI7033 U-82 A-75 AU-69 B-33 C-76 E-67 O-64 optional Problem The O-ring seal between the oil pump and the oil pan suction line is not adequately retained on some 3512 and 3516 Engines with vehicular oil pans. See the Illustration. A loose O-ring seal can allow air to leak into the oil pump and slow the priming of the pump during engine start-up. It is possible for the loose seal to be pulled into the oil pump. (SEE ILLUSTRATION) Affected Engines And New Parts Needed All the listed 3512 and 3516 Engines are included in this Program. 3512 Industrial Engines With Vehicular Oil Pans: (SEE ILLUSTRATION) 3512 Vehicular Engines: 51Y1-51Y474 3516 Vehicular Engines: 28Z1-28Z593 New parts needed: 1 - 4N1320 Gasket Action Requested This PIP, if done, should be done at the same time as other PIP's on 3512 Vehicular and Industrial Engines and 3516 Vehicular Engines. Review your PIP records and Service Letters. Replace the seal with the new 4N1320 Gasket. If the engine has oil in the oil pan and the pan is level, it should not be necessary to drain the oil. If the engine is tilted so that the front of the engine is lower than the rear, it may be necessary to drain the oil. Remove the bolts holding the suction elbow to the oil pump. Move the elbow down far enough to remove the seal and install the 4N1320 Gasket. Reinstall the bolts and refill the oil pan with oil, if necessary. If the work is done on one engine in a multiple engine installation, rework all engines at the same time if they are in the affected serial number range. Warranty Allowance List the new parts and one hour labor at your selling rate. This is a one-hour job. Complete each claim in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on PIP's. Dealers under "Option A" should list labor only. Parts Disposition Dispose of all parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin, "Warranty Parts Handling". Termination Date November 30, 1984.
