Installing The New Solenoid Valve
1. Remove panel from left side of engine.2. Remove the former valve and its mounting bracket from the right side of the cab. This is under the left rear side of the hood. See illustration.3. Remove both 45° elbows from the former valve for later use. Also, save the mounting hardware.4. Cut off both terminals from the two leads in the chassis harness.5. To improve access to the chassis harness, remove the harness from the clip and reroute the harness temporarily through the large opening in the lower front wall of the cab directly below the air conditioner and filter.6. Connect a 7N7779 Socket to the No. 322 grey lead and a 7N7780 Pin to the No. 200 black lead in the chassis harness. Install a 7N9738 Receptacle Housing on the socket and pin.7. Install one of the removed elbows in the outlet port (stamped No. 2), and the nipple in the inlet port (No. 1). Point the elbow down.
Right side view of engine area showing location of new horn valve parts.8. Install the bulkhead coupling in the nipple and remove the mounting nut from the bulkhead coupling.9. Bolt the coupling and new valve to the new valve mounting bracket, and tighten the coupling mounting nut to the bracket. The valve goes inside the right angle of the bracket as shown.10. Install the other elbow in the bulkhead coupling with the elbow pointing down.11. Install the valve and assembled parts in the same location as the former valve. Reuse the same hardware. Position the valve downward and bolt it to the flange of the new mounting bracket. See illustration.12. Route the valve wiring harness behind the rear elbow and connect it to the chassis harness.13. Install the new 9G9150 Clip on the harness housing receptacle. Bolt this clip to the same boss to which the existing clip for the chassis harness was bolted. See illustration.14. Connect the two air hoses to the elbows.15. Check horn for correct operation.
