Engine Fuel Shutoff Valve #1 : High - least severe (1) More than 21 kPa (3 psi) gas pressure has been detected after the GSOV while the ECM commands closed position. The valve may be leaking. Use the procedure below to determine if there may be a problem with the Gas Shut Off Valve (GSOV).Some scenarios of operation will cause an engine shutdown before the system can normally purge the existing gas supply after the GSOV.

Unsuccessful successive attempts to start the engineUnburned gas may remain in the air inlet and exhaust system after several unsuccessful attempts to start the engine. The unburned gas may increase to a concentration that may ignite during a successive attempt to start the engine.Perform the following procedure in order to purge the unburned gas:
If the Cat® Electronic Technician (ET) is not connected to the engine, connect Cat ET to the engine.
Verify that the value of the "Engine Purge Cycle" parameter is equal to 10 seconds less than the value of the "Crank Cycle" parameter.
Set the engine control to the START mode. The engine will crank for the "Engine Purge Cycle Time". Then, the GSOV will be energized and the ignition will be enabled. The engine will start.
Continue with your previous procedure.Use the troubleshooting in Table 2 below to diagnose if the GSOV has failed or if a sensor has failed.

Troubleshooting Test Steps Value Results
1. Check for Codes
A. Connect Cat® Electronic Technician (ET) to the service tool connector.
B. Determine if a code is active or logged.
Codes
Result: A -0 or -15 code is active or logged.
Positive pressure has been detected in the intake manifold with the engine off.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
Result: A -7 code is active.
Repair: Repair or replace the Gas Shutoff Valve (GSOV).
Verify that the repair eliminated the problem.
2. Check for Codes
A. Turn the main disconnect switch to the OFF position.
B. Remove the intake manifold pressure sensor.
Note: (G3616) Remove the intake manifold pressure sensing line to the air/fuel pressure module.
C. Turn the main disconnect switch to the ON position.
D. Connect Cat ET.
E. Use Cat ET to compare the following pressures:
- "Intake Manifold #1 Absolute Pressure"
- "Barometric Pressure"
Sensor
Result: The "Intake Manifold #1 Absolute Pressure" and the "Barometric Pressure" are within +/- 14 kPa
