Mark two points on opposite sides of the cage. The marks are illustrated above.

Use a standard feeler gauge to measure the gap between the cage and the pump housing at the two marked points. Average the two measurements.
Add 0.25 mm (0.010 inch) to the average measurement that was found in Step 33.e in order to achieve the shim pack thickness.
The desired bearing end play is .12 .05 mm (0.005 0.002 inch).Step 34 through Step 37 is correct in the original Service Manual module.Corrections for the 994D Wheel LoaderReference: Service Manual module, RENR2034, "Disassembly and Assembly, 994D Wheel Loader Power Train", "Pump Drive (Rear) - Assemble"Remove the 4C-8733 Tapered Gauge from the "Tools Needed" list. Use the following procedure to set the bearing end play.
Tighten four bolts (74) to 3.4 N m (30 lb in). Alternate between opposite bolts.

Use pry bar and bolts (79) to rotate the shaft by three revolutions or oscillate by the equivalent of three revolutions.
Repeat Step 18.g and Step 18.h
