Information:

Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact the skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Operate the machine in order to warm the oil.
Park the machine on level ground. Lower the attachment to the ground and apply slight downward pressure. Engage the parking brake and stop the engine.

The filter is located on the left side of the cab platform.
Open the access door for the transmission filter.
Clean the area in order to keep dirt out of the filter base.

Remove the four bolts (1) and remove cover assembly (2). Once the cover assembly has been removed, the filter element may remain within the filter housing.Note: There will be a significant amount of transmission oil within the filter housing and the filter element may be submerged in transmission oil. It is NOT necessary to drain the transmission oil from the filter housing. Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information" for information on containing fluid spillage.
Remove filter element (3). Note: Used filters should always be disposed of according to local regulations.

Replace seal (4) and seal (5) located on the cover assembly.
Install a new filter element onto the cover assembly.

Install the cover assembly into the filter housing as shown and install the four bolts. Note: The cover assembly can only be installed in one position. The cover assembly and the filter housing must be aligned correctly in order for the cover assembly to install properly. There is an alignment pin which will only allow the cover assembly to be install in the correct position.
Start the machine. Observe the transmission oil level and check for leaks. Stop the machine and make any necessary repairs.
Close the access door.
