Remove the torque converter. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly , "Torque Converter - Remove".
If necessary, remove the retarder hydraulic control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Retarder Hydraulic Control Valve - Remove and Install".
If necessary, remove the control manifold. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Control Manifold - Remove".Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all harness assemblies, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Disconnect harness assemblies (2) and (3) from torque converter (1) and remove all mounting hardware.

Disconnect harness assemblies (4) and remove all mounting hardware.

Remove bolts (5) and cover (6) .

Remove magnetic filter (7) and screen (8) .

Remove bolts (9) and oil pan (10) .

Note: Bolt (12A) will be removed later.
Remove tube assemblies (13) and (14) . Remove bolts (16) and housing (15) . Remove bolts (11) and pump (12) .
If equipped, remove the rear PTO shaft.

Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (A) on torque converter housing (17) . The weight of torque converter housing (17) is approximately 79 kg (175 lb). Remove bolt (12A) from Step 6. Remove bolts (18) and torque converter housing (17) from transmission (19) .

Remove lip seal (20) from torque converter housing (17) .
