Step 11) Install the Recirculation Filter Bracket and Filter.
Step 12) Install Steering Column Cover.

Step 13) Start Machine and test steering for proper operation, Rework Complete.
Installation with new Shaft and Pump Procedure
Step 1) Relieve Hydraulic tank pressure.

Step 2) Mark Hydraulic hoses and remove HMU.
Step 3) Remove the fittings from HMU and replace O-ring on fittings.

Step 4) Install the fittings with new O-rings into 124-7800 Pump Gp (HMU).
Step 5) Fill the HMU spline with 1P-0808 Grease as shown.

Step 6) Install the 171-2521 Steering Column to HMU and align the flat on shaft for U-joint bolt, and bolt holes to the HMU.

Step 7) Fit the 309-2791 plate over the column by passing the column through the hole in the plate. Install the 309-2791 Plate and four (4) bolts to mount the Plate and Column to the HMU.
Step 8) Install the New Steering Shaft, HMU, and Plate into the Cab; start the four (4) bolts to mount the 309-2791 Plate to Cab floor, but do not tighten at this time.

Step 9)Install Steering Column.
a. First install the 0S-1748 Bolt and 4Y-1701 Nut to U-Joint, but do not tighten.
b. Second install Steering Column to dash and install mounting bolts.
Be sure to install all four (4) bolts refered to in Image 1.20.2 several complete turns by hand to avoid cross threading of fine thread bolts into aluminum.

Step 10) Tighten U-joint Bolt.
Step 11) Tighten Bolts mounting the 309-2791 Plate to Cab floor.

Step 12) Tighten Steering Column Bolts.
Step 13) Pull the Floor Mat back into place.

Step 14) Install the Recirculation Filter Bracket and Filter.
Step 15) Install Steering Column Cover.

Step 16) Start Machine and test steering for proper operation, Rework complete.
