Install fitting (3) in drive housing (7).
Install hose (2) on the transmission.
Install plug (20) in drive housing (7).
Install hose (14) on the transmission.

Attach Tooling (T) to the drive housing of the transmission, as shown. Pull the shaft and the bushing out of the drive housing until the retaining ring groove is visible.

Use Tooling (U) to install retaining ring (1). Remove Tooling (T) from the transmission.
Illustration 92 g00681688Note: Be careful not to overtighten vent valve (19). The vent valve can be damaged if the vent valve is overtightened. The vent valve can leak if the vent valve is overtightened. A leaking vent valve can prevent the machine from engaging into first gear. A leaking vent valve can prevent the machine from disengaging from first gear.
Install vent valve (19). Tighten the vent valve to a torque of 22 N m (16 lb ft). Install the rubber cover over the vent valve.
Use the following procedure to check the operation of the brake:

Assemble Tooling (P), as shown.

Remove valve (16) from the transmission housing. Install Tooling (N) in the transmission housing, as shown. Attach Tooling (P) to Tooling (N).
Fill and drain the piston chamber with clean hydraulic oil several times to ensure that there is no air in the piston chamber.
Apply 3495 kPa (507 psi) of pressure for a minimum of three minutes. If the gauge pressure does not change in a three minute time period, there are no leaks.
Remove Tooling (P) and Tooling (N) from the transmission housing.
Install valve (16) in the drive housing.

Install shaft (88) in the transmission housing.

Install a new O-ring seal (87) on downshift inhibitor (84). Position the downshift inhibitor on the transmission housing.

Install two socket head bolts (86) in downshift inhibitor (84).

Install two socket head bolts (85) in downshift inhibitor (84).
Torque socket head bolts (85) and (86) to a torque of 23 N m (17 lb ft).

Install three tubes (82) in the tube's original location.
