Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Install ring (13) , ring (18) , seal (16) , seal (17) , and O-ring seal (14) onto cylinder head (12) . Use Illustration 1 to ensure that the O-ring seal, the seals, and the rings are oriented properly.
Apply Tooling (C) to Surface (X) of wiper seal (15) .
Install wiper seal (15) onto cylinder head (12) . Use Illustration 1 to ensure that the wiper seal is oriented properly.
Use hydraulic fluid to lubricate the sealing lips of wiper seal (15) , seal (16) , and seal (17) .
Place the components of the stick cylinder in position on Tooling (A) .
Hand tighten cylinder head (12) onto cylinder body (10) .
Push cylinder rod (11) into cylinder head (12) .
Remove cylinder head (12) and cylinder rod (11) from cylinder body (10) .
Install seal (8) and ring (7) onto piston (9) .
Lubricate the threads of bolt (5) with Tooling (D) .
Install piston (9) , washer (6) , and bolt (5) onto cylinder rod (11) . Tighten bolt (5) to a torque of 900 100 N m (660 70 lb ft).
Lubricate the threads of cylinder head (12) with Tooling (D) .
Install piston (9) , cylinder rod (11) , and cylinder head (12) into cylinder body (10) .
Use Tooling (B) to tighten cylinder head (12) to a torque of 600 130 N m (440 95 lb ft).
Remove the extendable stick cylinder from Tooling (A) .

Install fitting (2) , hydraulic line (1) , hydraulic line (4) , and clamp (3) onto the extendable stick cylinder.End By: Install the extendable stick cylinder onto the machine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Extendable Stick Cylinder - Install".
