Properly installed piston pin retainerSome reports have been made of cylinder packs with missing piston pin retainers.Installation of a piston that is missing a pin retainer could result in severe engine damage.Solution
Examine the date codes on the packaging labels of inventoried parts that are listed in Table 1.A date code is printed with "D" for the day, "M" for the month, and "Y" for the year. The day, month, and year are represented by two-digit numbers.The date code of "D01M03Y12" is for 1March 2012.Any package with a date code that precedes "D01M03Y12" is suspect.Inspect the contents of packages with a date code that precedes "D01M03Y12". Make sure that both of the piston pin retainers are properly installed.Note: Only inspect cylinder packs that are scheduled for installation.Report any cylinder packs that are missing a piston pin retainer to the Reman Technical Help Line at the following telephone number:1-888-887-3626
