FLUID SPILLAGE CONTAINMENT Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "TOOLS AND SHOP PRODUCT GUIDE, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates. 1. Remove oil filters (1) with Tool (A).2. Remove oil lines (2).3. Remove bolts (3) and move fuel transfer pump (4) out of the way. 4. Fasten a hoist as shown.5. Remove six bolts (6).6. Remove four bolts (8).7. Remove four bolts (7).8. Lower the oil cooler with hoist and remove tube (5). 9. Remove bolts (10) and (11). Remove the tube assembly as a unit. Remove seals (9). 10. Remove gasket (12).11. Remove bolts (14), (15) and (16).12. Remove spacer (13) and two gaskets (17). 13. Remove adapter (18) from bonnet (19).14. Remove O-ring seals (20) and (21). 15. Use a 3.20 mm (.125 in) Diameter Rod (23) to make sure the tubes in core assembly (22) are clean.Install Oil Cooler
1. Put clean engine oil or glycerin on O-ring seals (20) and (21). Install O-ring seals (21) to adapter (18). Install O-ring seal (20) to bonnet (24).2. Assemble adapter (18) and bonnet (19) to the engine oil cooler.3. Assemble bonnet (24) to the engine oil cooler. 4. Install seals (9).5. Install the tube assembly as a unit. Install bolts (10) and (11). 6. Install spacer (13) and bolts (14).7. Install two gaskets (17), bolts (15) and bolts (16).8. Install gasket (12). 9. Attach a hoist to the oil cooler. Raise the oil cooler into position.10. Install tube (5) with the seal.11. Install bolts (6), (7) and (8). 12. Install oil lines (2).13. Move fuel transfer pump (4) in position. Install bolts (3).14. Install oil filters with Tool (A).
