Removal Procedure
Start By:
Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Release the pressure in the steering system and in the braking system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "System Pressure - Release".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Drain the oil from the hydraulic tank into a suitable container. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil (Steering and Brake) - Change".

Disconnect harness assemblies (1).

Disconnect hose assemblies (2) from the hydraulic tank.

Disconnect hose assemblies (3).

Remove hydraulic fittings (4) and sensors (5).

Remove cover (6), cover assembly (7) and bolts (8) from the cab platform.

Use a suitable lifting device in order to support platform assembly (9). The weight of platform assembly (9) is approximately 86 kg (190 lb).
Remove bolts (10).

Remove bolts (11) from the underside of platform assembly (9).
Use a suitable lifting device in order to remove platform assembly (9).

Attach a suitable lifting device to the lifting brackets on hydraulic tank (12). The weight of hydraulic tank (12) is approximately 141 kg (310 lb).
Remove bolt (13).
Remove bolts (14).
Remove hydraulic tank (12).

Remove mounts (15) from hydraulic tank (12).
