Machine Loading onto a Trailer
Automatic Engine Speed Control (AEC) will increase engine speed automatically when you operate the control levers and/or travel pedals with AEC switch on.When loading and unloading machine from truck or working in close quarters always turn AEC switch off to prevent any possibility of sudden movement of machine, which could result in serious injury or death.Set the travel speed control switch to LOW before loading the machine. Never operate this switch when loading the machine on a trailer.
Investigate the travel route for overpass clearances. Make sure there will be adequate clearance for the machine. To prevent the machine from slipping while loading, or shifting in transit, remove ice, snow or other slippery material from the loading dock and the truck bed before loading.
Obey all state and local laws governing the weight, width and length of a load.Observe all regulations governing wide loads.
1. Block the trailer or rail car wheels before loading. 2. Position the machine with the front facing the trailer. With the boom over the trailer, apply down pressure to raise the front of the machine. 3. Move the stick in and move the machine forward at the same time until the front of the machine goes on the trailer bed. 4. Raise the boom and swing the upper structure 180°. Apply down pressure to raise the rear of the machine. Move the stick out while traveling onto the trailer. 5. Position the machine parallel to the trailer.6. Lower the implements to the bed or floor of the transport machine.
Do not allow the chrome surface of the bucket cylinder rod to touch any part of the trailer. Damage to the rod can occur from impact with the trailer during transport.
Securing the Machine
Comply with regulations governing length, width, height and weight of the load.
Never transport the machine with the engine running. If the fine swing control (if equipped) is left "ON" with the engine running, the swing parking brake (if equipped) will stay disengaged.
1. Move the hydraulic activation control lever to the LOCKED position.2. Turn the engine start switch key to OFF to stop the engine and remove the key.3. Turn off the disconnect switch and remove the key.4. Remove the ether cylinder from the valve. Refer to the Ether Starting Aid section in this manual.5. Lock the door, access covers and attach any vandalism protection.6. Cover the exhaust opening. Turbocharger (if equipped) damage can result if turbocharger rotates without the engine running. Before removing the machine from the transport, remove the exhaust stack covering. 7. Block the tracks and secure the machine with tie downs. For this purpose, with proper rated wire rope cable, use the front and rear eyes on the lower frame and towing eyes located in front and rear of the car body.8. Fasten all loose or removed parts securely to the trailer or flatcar.
In freezing weather, protect the cooling system with antifreeze, to the lowest outside expected temperature on the travel route. Or, drain the cooling system completely.
