When Service Meter Hour (SMH) adjustments are sent to the PL542 device through Cat activate, the device may not respond. If the SMH adjustment is received by the device in Low-power mode, the command will be rejected, and the hours will not update. This is a failure mode and the device will not send a response message. Due to this issue, the Cat activate mobile app will be stuck in pending mode, waiting to know that the first update message was received.Solution
Caterpillar is aware of this problem and the issue will be addressed in the upcoming onboard firmware 2018.3 release inJune 2018. As an interim action, dealers facing the issue can raise a Dealer Solution Network (DSN) ticket for further assistance.
