The bolts securing the axle to the final drive may loosen on the products listed above. Failure to monitor the loose bolts may cause severe damage to the components. Monitor and identify loose bolts to avoid any additional damage. Ensure to exercise this check during regular machine service intervals.Solution

Prior to installation of new bolts (1), remove the paint from the tabs on 510-1716 plate assemblies (A) and 510-1717 plate assemblies (B) as shown in Illustration 1 and Illustration 2.Note: Remove paint from the areas that contact the bolted joint surface and from the areas contacted by the bolt washers.

Ensure that the welds on 510-1716 plate assemblies (A) and 510-1717 plate assemblies (B) do not interfere with the bolted joint surface as shown in Illustration 3.Note: Remove any weld that interferes with the bolted joint surface.

Replace former 8T-0668 bolts with new 244-6356 bolts (1).
Prior to installation of bolts (1), apply Loctite 243 (Medium Strength) to the threads.
Revise the former special high torque value of 1000 N m (737 lb ft) to new torque value of 375 40 N m (276 29 lb ft). Also turn each bolt (1) to an additional 120 10 degrees.
